What would make for a good voxelands server hardware wise?

Would a GPU even help?

Shouldn't need one.

At the moment, it's basically a matter of: If it'll compile, it'll run nicely. As compiling currently requires more resources than running due to the size of content_mapnode.cpp

Menche claims to be working on that, sort of.

The official server's idle away on their hardware... I'm not actually sure what a 'minimum' and 'minimally decent' hardware setup would be.

mm, I'd be interested to see statistics for how much resources each additional active client uses. This could of course help estimate how many clients a server could handle. Though unless you're fortunate enough to have fiber optic internet, I wouldn't expect the server to be the bottleneck (unless maybe your sever is like a raspberry pi).

Since I haven't replied to anything, I guess I will now! Anyway, You can run a voxelands server on almost anything really. As long as you have a CPU with at least 1.0GHz, and 96mb of free RAM, it should run with 3 to 5 players okay. Don't expect amazingly fast map generation though.
